Since 2001 Xdesign has partnered with BREADA, which stands for Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance. Their goal is simple “to build a healthy and strong local food system; to increase sustainability of independent local farmers, fishers and food producers; and to foster stewardship of land and community through public markets.”
While you may not be so familiar with the name BREADA, we can guarantee you’ve heard of their initiatives: Main Street Market, Red Stick Farmers Market, and most recently Red Stick Mobile Farmers Market.
BREADA wanted to launch the Main Street Market branding to the community, but they felt they were coming up short on the logo - something was off. They came to Xdesign needing assistance to get their branding right. One of the questions we always ask clients is to see all their previous work. We want to see everything that was done, perhaps we can learn something from it, or, in this case, perhaps we could see what’s missing. As we studied the previous concepts, we realized something. All of the ideas had images of empty baskets, wheelbarrows, and trucks. We instantly realized the fix, there needed to be a bounty of overflowing produce. With the new direction, we worked with an illustrator to create a vintage mark that BREADA loved as much as we did. Sometimes it’s a simple change that can make all the difference in the world.
We continued that style as they introduced their Red Stick Farmers Market, and most recently Red Stick Mobile Farmers Market branding and fleet.
Over the past 14 years, we’re very proud of the work we’ve produced for BREADA. They are doing great things for Baton Rouge, and it’s great to see your work every Saturday morning as many of our team members are Farmers Market regulars.
